Wellbeing
At Warilla North Public School, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, respected and ready to learn. We believe that when children feel they belong, they thrive — in the classroom and beyond.
We follow the NSW Department of Education’s Wellbeing Framework, which ensures that every student is known, valued and cared for. Our approach combines consistent school-wide systems with individualised support, creating an environment where students are engaged in learning and connected to their school community.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each child’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday life at Warilla North.
We do this through:
- Clear behaviour expectations that are fair, consistent and predictable, so all students know what is expected
- Restorative practices embedded across the school to build respectful relationships and help students learn from challenges
- Play and movement breaks every 45 minutes to support self-regulation, physical activity and wellbeing
- Teachers who know every child and foster a culture of inclusion, safety and belonging
- Specialist support staff including school counsellors, psychologists, Student Support Officers, and Learning and Support Teachers
- Health, attendance and resilience programs that promote positive behaviour and social skills
- Support for transitions, including students who are new to the school, moving year levels, or preparing for high school
- Collaboration with families and carers, ensuring strong partnerships that support student learning and wellbeing at home and at school
- Health care planning for students with medical needs, developed in consultation with parents, carers and health professionals.
Our commitment
